With 2006 looking like our biggest year yet, Synergy is looking for people who are interested in helping us throw our events.
What exactly is involved in promoting for Synergy?
-Flyering and postering. General putting flyers all over the place at your univeristy, college or school. Guestlist to events that you can flyer at. If you're interested we also pay $10 an hour for streetwork, usually a week or two before every event.
-Event Staff: From security to lights to waterbar, there's 1001 things that always need to be done on the night of the event and never enough people to do it!
-Setup and teardown: We're still very much a do it yourself company, and when we rent massive sound and lights it's us that ends up hauling them up and down four flights of stairs before and after every party. If that sounds like fun, you too can get in on the action!
-Decorations: We always try hard to create an amazing environment for people to rave in, but when the shit hits the fan, the first thing that gets the axe is the decorations. This is just an issue with not enough time or hands. So we need more people involved so we can finally start doing some really amazing things decoration-wise at our events!
-Giving Demos, getting demos: We've always got big stacks of demo CDs by our Synergy residents to give away, and we need help spreading good music! And on the other hand, we're always looking for new talent to book at our shows, and our promotional team is the first group we come to when deciding which locals to book.
-Spreading word on the Interwebs: Yep, the street is now considered the second line of attack. The real war is on the internet. The more visible a party is on all the local sites, the bigger it becomes! So a lot of promoting is just about raising awareness online.
-Anything else you can imagine! Off the top of my head we need photographers, VJs, web designers, flyer designers, banner designers, people to drive our headliners around, and 1001 other things that come up in this retarded business.
We're mainly looking for people in the Montreal region (including North and South shore), atlhough people in other regions are also always appreciated to spread the word.
Perks include VIP and guestlist at all our events, as well as free swag and other perks. The job doesn't pay like a normal job does ... much of the help you do will be for the love of the scene and helping out the party. But there will be ways like promotional passes and street promoting to make some decent money. We're always willing to make deals with people who want to freelance promote and get out a ton of their friends who otherwise wouldn't come.
